Personal Experience

Dr Robert Davis has extensive ecological experience in a range of habitats around Perth, the wheatbelt, goldfields, southwest forests, Pilbara and south coast. His primary areas of research interest are the ecology of vertebrate populations and the persistence of species in fragmented urban and rural landscapes. He has studied the population ecology of amphibians for the past 5 years, including a 6 month position as a research assistant at the University of Western Australia. Robert completed a PhD on frogs at The University of Western Australia. He has a particular interest in the herpetofauna of the Swan Coastal Plain and is experienced in the identification and capture of reptiles and amphibians. Robert is also a keen birdwatcher, a qualified A-class Bird Bander, Chair of the Birds Australia WA (BAWA) Group committee, Chair of the BAWA Conservation and Research Committee and Program Chair of the Society for Conservation Biology Australasian Section.   Miss Jennifer Wilcox is experienced in education, urban ecology and ornithology. She completed her honours degree at Murdoch University in co-operation with Kings Park and Botanic Gardens where she studied bird use of urban habitats. Jennifer is an experienced ornithologist, member of the Birds Australia WA Group committee and a qualified A-class bird-bander. Jennifer is interested in the population ecology and foraging behaviour of birds as well as the impacts of urban development on vertebrate fauna. She has a working knowledge and passion for native plants through her work at Ecosystem Management Services (a nursery growing plants for rehabilitation). Jennifer is also a qualified secondary science teacher and has undertaken a number of activities with school children, university students and the general public on the values of native fauna.
